Ninety Nine Franklin
Ninety Nine Franklin
Visual identity of a café by day, speakeasy by night, located at 99 Franklin St. in Greenpoint, Brooklyn.
Ninety Nine Franklin is a bar in disguise by its fully functioning café in the front. Stop in mornings and afternoons and get everything from a latte, cappuccino, their special Cold Fashion (made with cold brew, orange zest, and cinnamon), instagram-worthy sandwiches, to light bites like mozzarella sticks and truffle fries. Within the bar, Ninety Nine Franklin provides twists on classic cocktails—like a spicy Paloma or a black Manhattan. Additionally, they provide plenty of original concoctions—like the Free Smoke, which is a combination of smoked scotch, amaro, ginger, and lemon.
OPPOSITES ATTRACT
Yin and Yang. Light and Dark. Night and Day. One does not exist without the other.
Such as the idea of twins—two different entities living as one, the branding of Ninety Nine Franklin explores bringing the two physical spaces of the building, into a visual one. White (bright) is used to represent the café, and while moving through the space towards the bar, black (dark) represents the speakeasy.
SPEAKEASY
Walk through the hidden door in the back, and be greeted by a dark but welcoming room with a sleek bar and modern finishings throughout, complete with branded ice cubes for drinks. The color scheme shifts to a striking green, picked from the interior’s design. Moody neon lighting further pushes the vibe transition from day to night. Menus are consciously executed with a more casual energy in mind, keeping with the understated feeling of a speakeasy. Lastly, the customer journey keeps evolving through the back of the bar, leading you to the heated outdoor patio, complemented with firepits and s’mores.
