Rochambeau

Rochambeau

Visual identity of a two-floor, all-day restaurant, café-bakery and bar serving contemporary French fare in a Neo Bistro setting.

Named for the French general who helped lead the Continental Army to victory, Rochambeau is a grand bistro that embraces the winning potential of Franco-American cross-cultural collaboration. Located in the heart of Boston on Bolyston Street, the spirit of a buzzing, Parisian eatery emanates from the outdoor café up through the second floor raw bar as they deliver contemporary takes on iconic bistro fare.

Designed by Home Studios, this Lyons Group and Blue Flag development is a vibrant expression of passionate palates and approachable elevation. Rochambeau is reinvigorating Boston’s French food scene one order of steak frites at a time.

[DON’T] PARDON OUR FRENCH

RO·SHAM·BO
The branding mirrored Rochambeau’s narrative of not taking itself too seriously—saving that for the food & drink. It’s style is approachable and never fussy. Good-humored with a touch of wit, and approaches guest interactions with an energized irreverence that encourages letting one’s guard down and enjoying the simple pleasures of great tasting food and free-flowing wine.

SEEN THROUGH ROSÉ COLORED GLASSES

Rochambeau embodies an energized atmosphere perfectly calibrated to cultivate connection, laughter and fun whether it’s morning, noon or night.

The Rochambeau logo was hand illustrated, in a style paying homage to noted Parisian artists of the past à la Henri Toulouse-Lautrec. Signage was written in multiple typefaces, a cue from buildings typically seen throughout Paris where it is the norm for neon signage to be juxtaposed with a soft logotype. Tongue-in-cheek copy written in large and bold across collateral, highlighting quotes from iconic Parisian visionaries. The color palette was inspired by that of “urban ease”, such as a French worker’s jacket made of selvedge denim—polished French belle meets Parisian street kid. Quippy illustrations, drawn in the spirit of loose linework on a café napkin, peek through during joyful moments.
